Paranoia will destroy ya! ( Updated 5th April )

EA are not in TSR’s good books. Tom and Co have been waiting with baited bad breath to see the new announcement that was originally scheduled for today on the Sims 3 facebook. While the rest of the world thinks with some certainty the announcement will be Generations related, paranoid Tom is worried that it will be some sort of creation tool to rival the workshop. Now, with the announcement being delayed until Tuesday, he has another 5 day agonising wait. It has even been suggested that uploads made with this EA tool be denied from the TSR site. That is going to go down well with EA I am sure!

It seems a tad premature to make rules for a tool that probably does not even exist, and what would be the big deal if it did? If EA were to make such a tool, players would still blindly upload to TSR, so why does it have to be strictly only the TSR tool that they use? I guess this is the same reason that they send sock puppets over to the EA forums whenever someone even suggests that the TSR tool is not safe to use. It is ok to call them hackers, information sharers, thieves, extortionists and paedophile magnets ( all true ) However if anyone dare to dis their workshop, a shitstorm will ensue. They do not care what dirty little secrets the community knows and repeats about them, so long as they have the whole community trusting, using and regularly updating this tool, I wonder why.

On a funnier note, it is refreshing to see TSR on pins waiting for news, I remember the days when they would have known the announcement in advance thanks to Steve’s connections and their *ahem* ‘close’ relationship with EA. These days EA seem to be keeping their distance. It looks like TSR are sleeping on the couch.

 UPDATE: 5th April 2011

As expected, EA’s announcement was nothing to do with a rival tool. It was Generations. Perhaps Tom may now realise just how paranoid he really is? I must say I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the new expansion on Gamespot, the preview on gamerevolution and the Gameplanet interview with producer Ryan Vaughan was quite interesting.  On April 12th simfans.de will test the new EP Generations and are accepting questions. Sims-3.net  have attended a fan event in Germany, which has been translated into English by simsVIP

TSR would have had an amazing ‘exclusive’ but Steve’s scanner broke much to the relief of PC format.

Updated 17th March – Simbecile’s blog update

In addition to her blog, I have now been informed that Simbecile’s box.net account was also hacked, and that “gross content was left behind” This is TSR’s MO. I am shocked and saddened to hear that Simbecile is a 16 year old girl. I understand that over at Blackpearlsims they are trying to recover her lost files, Simbecile is also known as Alfie on BPS, so if you have any files from either Simbecile or Alfie please contact her or blackpearlsims.

9th March 2011: Since I have written the last article it seems that more sites have been attacked. The latest being GOS , Cherryblossom sims forum, bitethebullet and colorsims. Crissi tells me that Cherryblossomsims forum has been under massive attack over the last few days. I do not know the nature of the attack as yet, but the reported IP is the same one that attacked GOS, which belongs to TSR. The same goes for Bitethebullet and colorsims, S1mOne reports that bitethebullet is also under continued attack since last week and the same is happening to coloursims. Bitethebullet was last hacked in Oct 2010, the IP of the hacker belonged to the TSR proxy.

If you know of a site that has been hacked/DDossed/TOU attacked please give them all the help that you can. You can help by suggesting alternative hosting, recovering any lost files if you have ever downloaded them, taking new item screen shots for those who have lost photo accounts, donating to their site if you can, linking to their new site if they have to change url or offering kind words, support and a friendly ear. These sites are the backbone of our community and we can not afford to lose them.

I have heard from SIMplyEdward , He was one of 3 forumotion sites that got hacked. His site was hacked 3 times.  He has provided the IP:  74.55.11.66 This IP traces back to THEPLANET.COM INTERNET SERVICES. The same place as the TSR proxy, which is the paid proxy from the hide IP network, that was provided to Atwa as a gift from Tom and Per back in 2008.  It was later provided to all main staff at TSR, for use with ‘trolling’

The proxy is part of the hide IP network and has 2 bands of IPs, one band traces to the UK with the hosts rapidswitch, (  Found on Gayles forum and involved in the hacking of sims secret  http://tsr.mustbedestroyed.org/?p=462 ) and the other band traces to the US with the host THEPLANET.COM. ( The same trace as the proxy IP found on Toms account at MTS and the IP that hacked BuggyBooz account there. 70.85.179.186 )

I have a copy of this myself, and although that particular IP is not on it, the US trace is the same, so they may be using an older or newer version of the program. While it is notable that other staff do have access to this proxy supplied by TSR, they do not have access to the database or to the unencrypted passwords, Such information could only be supplied by Tom, Steve, Per, Johan or Micke.

Victories in the community!

I am pleased to report some good news for once!

Sunset sims returns

Sunsetsims recently had their wordpress site deleted due to a false TOU report from Tom. Pescado has kindly come to the rescue and SunsetSims now have a new home at  http://sunsetsims.mustbedestroyed.org/

Hack recoveries

GOS and Sailfin report no damage from their attacks, and have fully restored their sites. Cherryblossom, bitethebullet and colorsims have also regained control of their sites. Sailfin also confirms that in her logs the TSR IP appears heavily during the time of the attack.

Useful information

Sofia left the following comment on my last article, which may prove useful. Thank you for this.

Hi!
I’ve looked into this a little bit, being Swedish and all makes it a little bit easier to find info relating to Sweden

TSR leaking information on their members is a violation against the Personal Data Act, (In Sweden it’s called Personuppgiftslagen, or PUL). PUL is controlled/checked/monitored by something called Datainspektionen. While Datainspektionen may not be able to do *very very* much, and I suppose a little less for those of you who are living outside the EU, they would certainly want to know about this large amount of violations.

Information on this can be found at http://www.datainspektionen.se, just use other languages at the upper right corner, pick english, ang go to legislation.

As to the hacking of websites and deleting them, it was very difficult to find any info. I mean, WHERE has the crime been committed? At Thomas’ computer in Sweden, or at the websites server? If the crime is done in Sweden, the crime is called Dataintrång, and is a crime against Brottsbalken Chapter 4 Paragraph 9. Someone with more experience on Law could specify this.

Anyone can press charges, wether they live in Sweden or not (as shown by piratebay a few years ago).

The point is, the crimes that have been committed are relatively small, but the number of violations may be enough to create some sort of reaction.

Polisen.se (and then picking your language of choice), may also be useful to you. Those living in the EU should have no problem finding information from your domestic lawyers.

I’m not an expert or anything, but I do live here and speak the language, and I would really like to help anyone who can benefit from this information.

That guy really pisses me off!

New community logo popping up everywhere!

A new community logo seems to be taking the free community by storm, it is appearing on websites, blogs and forums and also as signatures and avatars. I wish to thank the creator, Liegenschonheit,
and I will be sure to use it myself :) Please support the cause and use it too. Available in large or small.

Please remember to warn others about the dangers of TSR, and if you can, put a note on your website/forum. Not only will you be saving other people the misfortune of hackings, trojans and personal information leaks, you will also directly reduce the revenue reaped by these criminals in subscriptions and advertising.

TSR are using terrorist tactics. They want you to know that it is them, but they do not want you to prove it.
