As ‘lol’ correctly predicted, the new announcement from TSR will be about Wes H. TSR plan to announce that they are adding Wes H ( as staff ) to the development team for Merlin. Tom hopes that this will ‘rock the free community’ in some way.
And to answer your question, the plugins will NOT carry a TOU preventing their use on payfiles.
PMBD and MATY down? How will we survive!
REPLY from calalily: As we always do – waiting patiently for Pescado to fix it.

Wait, the same Wes H who is spouting political idiocy at MATY right now (well when one can actually get on MATY anyway)? Color me not surprised then as he is a jerk of epic proportions based on his posts there. I look forward to watching rohina and the rest massacre him.

So if I understand correctly, Thomas has schmoozed Wes_H into removing all the commercial restrictions from his meshing tools?

If I’ve read it well, Merlin is just an installation tool, TSR has been working with *cough* leeching off *cough* with free modders and creators for months, and creating one file format will help the community tremendously *cough* and spare TSR the embarrassment of shit that don’t work *cough*.
The only rocking is in his lues-infected head. Lol.

You know what is very interresting?
On the official sims 3 forum, you are not allowed to link to MTS2 or even mention it in any way, earning you a ban for linking to ‘inappropriate content’. With TSR filled to the brim with softcore porn shit, and Sims 3 Guru’s being buttbuddies and all, this flies.
So even when people try to help others by linking to, say, the Sims Wiki, they get banned, often permanently.
TSR has created a Wiki that has information basically copied straight from the MTS Wiki with the wording slightly altered, even named it the same to steal google hits. Ofcourse, you are allowed to link to TSR from the Sims 3 official forum.
TSR has reached a new low of using and abusing the free community by taking information that was offered freely by a joined effort of many people, blatantly stealing this, not crediting them, making it theirs, and will no doubt fill it with misinformation and propoganda in favour of themselves. And they will ofcourse be linked to by the official Sims 3 site.

To add, MTS has not given permission and had no prior knowledge of this.

He’ll regret it eventually. Everyone does. Meanwhile this is just another reason not to get this particular piece of junk by EA. Sims 3 cooties–ewwww!!!

Why the heck would Wes want to team up with TSR? They must be talking monies. Oh well, whatever. He’s just another person added to my DNW list. Not that I care for Sims 3 anyway. It’s on my Boycott 4 Lyfe list.

Given TSR’s history of lying to the community about people who have, or have not participated in the creation of their tools I am unwilling to believe this until WesH makes some sort of statement about this. They lied about half the people they stated helped them with the TS3 Workshop and it is likely they are lying about this. While WesH does have his moments as do we all, I a more inclined to believe a statement from him than I am inclined to believe anything that comes out of anyone’s mouth at TSR. They have repeatedly lied to, victimized, and taken advantage of the Sims Community as a whole- 9not just the Free Community since half of recolors and edits of other creators content on the site- pay and free is done without prior consent of the original creator, or even credit to the original creator) why believe anything coming out of that cesspool. Besides given the stupidity level at TSR they probably believe that being told ” Make your own tools you are not allowed to use mine to create pay content” is ” HELP’ So I am waiting on WesH himself to make a statement before flying off the handle and blasting him just as I did when they released the TS3- Non-Workshop

This rumour turned out to be substantially incorrect. Wes’s sole “involvement” was to change the licence terms for his plugins, so TSRWorkshop users would be able to make meshes that were compatible with Wes’s Object Tool.

I know I am annoying saying this, but you told me you knew what was going to happpen… since when do you believe anything the sweaty lobster says?
Comment by lol — September 19, 2009 @ 02:30
Well Inge, even if this isn’t true, I think that Wes caving in anyway has done damage to his reputation and any future stance he wants to take on anything.
Also, this hit simsecret, maybe the shit is about to hit the fan.

To be honest, I didn’t really get what the deal was (maybe that’s the point) so I figure if Pescado ain’t mad at it, it must be relatively fine. No flogging then. I still think he’s a tool sometimes though.

I can’t tell you the handle I always use in the simming community because They have it. I downloaded TSR Workshop because I wanted to learn how to make simple custom content. I trusted TSR because they’re endorsed by the SimGurus and they’ve been around for so long, making some quality content. I’ve been to donation sites before, so I didn’t think it all that unreasonable that they would ask for some small compensation for the effort they make to keep up and running. Boy, was I conned. I couldn’t use their stupid program anyway because I don’t have Photoshop, and it wasn’t an hour after downloading it before my computer started to act up. First it was a program that kept shutting down on startup “to protect my computer.” Then I had strange things happening when I downloaded from the Exchange, and then I went into the game this morning and had problems using CAS, including one that basically rendered my computer nonfunctional when I tried to upload something I’d created. When I ran a virus scan, I found several infected files. Someone in the official forums tipped me off to TSR as a possible point of entry, and I found this site via Google and I just feel sick. I expected better of my fellow simmers – I thought they would be doing what they do out of love of the game, just as I wanted to, and not to get rich. And I guess from what I’ve read here that maybe the artists are, some of them at least, but the people behind TSR are just doing it as a business, not for the joy of it, and that disgusts me. How awful that there are people out there who don’t even know me, who would use the one thing we have in common, our interest in The Sims, to hurt me, for no reason at all. Well, it backfired on them. I was even thinking about subscribing until they did this to me, and I read up on them and learned what they’re really about.
